Adult Charm School

Tongue Tied?
Flustered and Flubbing? Give Adult Charm School a try!

How do you know when you don’t have charm?

Are you tongue-tied when faced with uncomfortable situations? Do you get flustered when speaking with strangers? Have you had multiple interviews but no call backs?  In-laws coming for the weekend, and you are dreading it? If these awkward and high pressure situations sound familiar, my Adult Charm School approach, can help. I specialize in teaching you the words and actions you need to use to handle these circumstances with charm, grace and class!

With a strong background in industry, education and change management, I  have built a career of guiding others out of troubled waters. I listen to people’s work, life and relationship challenges and help them sort through what is most important to them.  Most significantly, I do this by creating scenarios in which I help to dispel a client’s confusion regarding exactly what to say and what to do when under stress. It’s a Charm School for adults!

As a professional and executive coach, I  can help you gain insight into your own behavior. Oftentimes, clients are too close to their problems to see workable solutions. That’s where I come in. I challenge people’s belief systems to help them make important life decisions. This often entails actually rehearsing exact words and actions that you will use verbatim,  so that you are fully prepared to be charming, confident, and poised when faced with a potential landmine.

Work Life Balance

Are you happy at work? That’s a tough question for most of us to answer. Perhaps it’s a promotion or a raise you didn’t get. Or a difficult boss who can not see things as you may. Through hands-on help with my method of practicing what to say and what to do when the going gets tough, I help people shift from frustration in these situations, to achieving a satisfying, more gratifying outcome through repetition and practice of appropriate actions and words.

Are you content in your relationships? Whether it’s dealing with a major life crisis or an intense family dynamic, my approach can help you stay stable in rough waters. Mary creates a safe and confidential environment where clients express themselves freely and without judgment. All coaching is conducted in an ethical, empathetic and engaged manner. My goal as an Adult Charm School coach is to create a partnership with each client, so there is sufficient trust in me for you  to accept the behavior changes that I suggest.

Career in Creative Solutions

My diverse academic and professional background is rooted in creative problem solving. I started my career as a high school English teacher in upstate New York.  After 10 years of teaching, I became involved in the defense industry, first at General Electric in Syracuse, NY, then later at several Lockheed Martin locations. An exciting position at Raytheon brought me to Rhode Island in 2001, based on my experience and expertise. A major career shift, I thrived in various change management roles for over 20 years. I was in positions where I was a change agent, moving teams and individuals from the status quo to new ways of thinking. With a focus on changing behaviors and creating new habits, my innovative techniques contributed to the growth efforts of the Fortune 500 company. This effort was key in developing my approach to creating a charm school style of coaching, where people can be taught where they are going wrong, and what to do to make it right.

I have a Bachelors in English from Long Island University.I  completed my Masters in Organizational Leadership in 2012, at Quinnipiac University, and received a Graduate Certificate in Executive and Professional Coaching from the University of Texas Dallas. I also holds a Certification from the International Coach Federation (ICF).

I am  is also now expanding into group sessions , where a group of six or fewer clients can support each other and offer recommendations based on their own personal experiences. Group coaching is a very affordable way to benefit from professional coaching and gain the value others offer, who are also working through tough issues. Group sessions are restarting again soon, so be sure to call me to register in advance. I also offers special discounts for my other programs to group members. Ask me about these offers when you call for your initial session.

As a charm school coach, I will provide you with actual practice sessions with role playing to help you ease high pressure situations. As the coach, I’ll guide you through real scenarios which may prove to be perilous if not handled correctly.  If you misspeak or behave in a potentially damaging manner, it can lead to disastrous results. My aim is for you to understand the impact that your words and actions have on your personal and professional life, and how that influences your relationships. With my help, you can learn to handle demanding situations with poise, self assurance, and confidence.
